ASTLC5506 - CONFIGURABLE ALL-IN-ONE CHIP FOR CONTROLLING AV-TYPE PANELS

DESCRIPTION

The ASTLC5506A is a selectable 242, 274 or 290-channel gate driver with timing controller for AV type color TFT LCDs. It provides all control signals and analog data to analog source drivers and includes power management circuits.

The timing controller accepts different timings with PAL or NTSC standard and can provide timings for 8 horizontal resolutions. The digital 8-bit input data are converted into analog data (R, G and B) through a selectable gamma correction table (one linear or 3 gamma ROM are available).

A DC-DC PWM controller allows to generate the input voltage (PVDD1) of the analog power supply regulator AVDD (5V) and charge pump input voltage PVDD2 from the logic power supply (3V). The charge pump uses external capacitors to provide all power supplies for the gate driver and common voltage blocks. Finally, a second PWM controller is used for the panel backlight supply voltage generation.

The offset and the amplitude of the common signal VCOM can be adjusted.

The system is configured through a 3-wire serial interface.
