ASMTC6301A - POWER COMBO IC FOR INKJET PRINTERS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The ASMTC6301A CMOS monolithic integrated circuit (IC) is a complete power system with analog and digital functions needed to control MFPs or ink-jet printers.

The power system consists of two high-performance DC motor drivers (A and B), two configurable motor drivers (C1, C2), and three switching Buck regulators. The two configurable motor drivers are able to drive 2 DC motors or 1 bipolar stepper motor. In a typical MFP/printer application, the motor drivers operate all DC and stepper motors that control carriage and paper motion. DC motor drivers A and B are operated in voltage mode with PWM input pin. The configurable motor drivers C1 and C2 can be operated in two ways: voltage mode with PWM input pin, or in current mode with internal PWM current regulation. The three regulators are typically used to deliver logic, core, and analog supplies. These are generated from the single bulk voltage supplied to the IC.

An SPI™ serial control port allows easy interfacing with a micro-controller. Thermal, supply and power-up/down supervision are included. In addition, an analog front-end with I/V conversion option and two multi-channel 8-bit ADC’s are available.

  • Programmable 5V..8.5V switching buck regulator.
    - 2A max. continuous output current at 5V
    - 1.25A max. continuous output current at 8.5V
  • 2.5V / 3.3V switching buck regulator. 1.0A max. continuous output current
  • 1.5V / 1.8V / 2.5V switching buck regulator. 0.6A max. continuous output current
  • Internal power switches for all regulators
  • Charge pump for high-side power switches
  • Internal thermal detection, warning and shutdown protection
  • Reset, supplies monitoring and power-up/down control
  • Internal oscillator
  • Two multi-channel 8-bit analog-to-digital converters with I/V conversion and gain option
  • 32MHz standard serial control interface (SPI)
  • 20V to 35V supply voltage range
  • 0C to +70C ambient operating temperature range
  • Thermally enhanced QFP-64 package
