New DC motor driver for cooling fans
Advanced Silicon announces the introduction of the ASMTD6101/2A a DC motor driver dedicated to small fan applications, such as CPU cooling fans. The circuit generates a full-wave signal for the efficient steering of single phase BLDC motors. It operates with an external Hall element and only few additional components.
Operating from a broad range of supplies (3.2V to 18V) and delivering up to 800mA motor load current, the ASMTD6101/2A is a power efficient and low noise driver. Several protection features are integrated. In case of motor lock, coil burn-out is prevented by a built-in detection and automatic restart circuit. A thermal shutdown function protects the IC against overheating.
This product is available in SOP-8L EP packages with two versions for status output signal: rotation/stall detection (ASMTD6101A) or speed indication (ASMTD6102A).
