Advanced Silicon’s wide range of IC display products offer flexible, reliable and low-cost system solutions mainly aimed at amorphous Silicon (a-Si) TFT-LCDs.

Large-Panel TFT Displays

Advanced Silicon’s chip set solution shown in Fig. 1 is designed for large-sized monitors and notebook displays with resolutions ranging from XGA up to SXGA+. Ongoing developments target higher resolutions such as HDTV and UXGA, to be used in LCD-TVs.

The chip set combines several ICs from our different high-performance product families such as source drivers, gate drivers, and timing controllers with TTL, RSDS or LVDS interfaces.

Small-Panel TFT Displays

Small-sized active matrix LCDs for consumer products, for instance Digital Still Cameras (DSCs) or Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), can also include several of our standard ICs.

In a typical small panel configuration, the LCD module includes the driving circuits (source and gate drivers) on the panel, whereas the timing controller and peripheral circuits are on the main board of the device. The continual trend towards miniaturization and cost reduction in handheld devices drives the development of new display solutions incorporating a higher level of integration of the panel's control electronics (system-on-chips).
